The Workshop

We’ve equipped both our machine shop and bench rooms with some of the best tools available: precision-engineered machines from Switzerland and Germany, Festool power tools, and a collection of premium hand tools to inspire excellence every single day.

The Student Bench Room

Each student has their own high-quality cabinetmaker’s bench from the Sjobergs Elite range, with ample space to work on and store ongoing projects. These are serious benches for serious work—heavy, dead-flat, and built to last. Our students also have access to an exceptional collection of tools, including Lie Nielsen, Clifton, Stanley, and more. Tutors work alongside students in this space, offering individual support and live demonstrations.

The Machine Shop

Our industrial-standard machine shop is fitted with top-tier equipment: from a Kundig wide belt sander and Hofmann spindle moulder to a full suite of professional-grade machines. All are safely extracted, maintained, and chosen to prepare students for real-world workshop environments. Learning to use these machines with confidence empowers our students to make informed choices when setting up their own practice.

The Commercial Bench Room

Our professional workshop is located right next to the student facilities. This ‘open door’ connection provides students with a rare insight into the day-to-day of a busy commercial furniture studio. We regularly hold Q&A sessions here, especially when professional pieces reach key stages in their development—a chance to see advanced techniques in action and learn how design translates to real-world commissions.
