How is the Q&A Tutor Support Delivered?
Tutor support is provided through the exclusive Q&A forum on Discord. Members can post questions, upload photos, and share short video clips for feedback. We will help troubleshoot any issues related to the online course projects.
What tools will I need for the online furniture making course?
Most of our woodworking tutorials and projects are hand tool based, especially in the early stages. As the projects progress, some power tools, particularly a router, are required for more advanced builds like the dovetailed box, wall cabinet, and tri table. We’ve put together a recommended tool list for you to download here:
I only have a small home workshop and workbench, can I still complete the tutorials?
Yes, absolutely! Our online furniture making course has been designed for small workshop spaces, using mostly hand tools and just a couple of power tools. All the tutorials were filmed up close and ‘at the bench’ – it’s all the space you need for most of the projects!
How long does the online course take to complete?
The answer will vary for each member, but these projects take our full-time students around 15 weeks to complete – so they’ll keep even the most dedicated hobbyist busy for many weekends!
How will I manage my membership?
After subscribing, you’ll be directed to your membership dashboard, hosted by our subscription partner, Ternary Developments. From there, you can manage your subscription, update payment details, and connect your Discord account to access the course & community on our private Discord server.
Why do you offer the online course as a membership?
Because the course is designed to be taken at your own pace, most members take 2–3 years to complete it. Running it as a membership allows us to offer continued tutor support throughout that time.
I don’t have machines to process my timber, how do I start making?
While it’s handy to have machines like a table saw, bandsaw, or planer/thicknesser, many timber yards can supply and deliver joinery-grade planed-all-round (PAR) timber straight to your door, suitable for most projects on this course. Check local suppliers in your area – we’ve also included a list below, based on student recommendations.
Is the online furniture making course suitable for beginners?
Yes! Our woodworking tutorials are suitable for both beginners and experienced hobbyists looking to hone their skills. We start with the core fundamentals – proper tool preparation and sharpening – before moving on to skill building projects and, eventually, more complex cabinetmaking work.
